You'd be amazed at how many ppl have tattoos that don't say what they think they do! :D

I am always amazed at the kind of info everyone brings to this site! Thanks for the education! Yet another reason not to get a tattoo!

This actually means "fortune" or "blessing" or "wealth".

Chinese ideograms are based on calligraphy done with liquid ink and a brush. Even the translations now used in type are pretty subtle, with considerable variation in the thickness of lines, and many lines ending at an angle or with some little flourish mimicking the way the brush leaves the paper. This was fun as a puzzle, and got me to look up the symbol used for "happiness," (there are multiple ideograms, actually, with shades of meaning, just as there are multiple English words for "happy"). It's too bad the medium of pictures made of small squares doesn't lend itself better to such variations. Although it maybe could be done in a considerably larger puzzle. I enjoyed this anyway. Thanks for getting me to think, as well as for a fun solve.

Susan, from your comment, it sounds as if you might be unfamiliar with who Jan Wolter is. Or, rather, was. He created this site and is no longer with us .

Maybe it's the character for soup.
