Thanks Aldege!

I got the idea while trying to explain how to do edge logic from the inside out...meaning, when you can't just start in a corner. There are a number of opportunities in the top row for a little bit of "no matter where a 6 (R1) goes, it can't reach THIS pixel without violating R2." once you have one pixel picked out that way you can use it as a starting point to work off of it in either or both directions. Once you EL the top, it's LL to the end. you can EL the bottom for some pixels too, but that isn't necessary.

Beautiful! It didn't take me long to figure out where to place the outer clues. (If you're completely stumped, place the 6s in row 1 in the outer corners)

Found to be logically solvable by gator.
#5: Gator (gator) on Jan 26, 2012 [HINT]
I love it when designers intentionally throw in logic like this. :)

I dotted R1C12-R1C48 using edge logic. Great puzzle!

Thank you two!

nice puzzle. I did the same as Gator to solve.

This puzzle is great! Challenging, but not tedious in any way. It's nice to have one where the typical edge logic does not work! Thanks!
