Puzzle Description:

Minesweeper! Slightly simplistic, but you get the idea. Mines are black, 1s are blue, 2s are green, 3s are red.

Clever idea for a puzzle, but I'd never in a million years have guessed what it was without your description.

Really nice. I used to play that a Lot. fastest time on Expert was 82 seconds.

At first it looks like a scatter plot, but when you see the description, you see that at least as much effort went into the puzzle as it takes to complete it.

Good job

Very clever! Thank you!

Yeah, I was thinking not in a million years even before I read Jan's comment. The idea and the execution are quite impressive, though.

Yeah I was like, what the fe is this? But now that I know what it is, I LOVE IT. Minesweeper was indeed another obsession for me back in the day.

Wow, 82 seconds is fast! I got under 100 seconds on expert once! Then we got a new computer with the resolution set smaller, and I never could do it again!
#7: Merili (merilinnuke) on Apr 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
Well, I was hoping to brag about my personal best 82 seconds on expert, but as it turns out, I'm not the only one. I wonder if there's anyone else with the exact same record?
And of course, great idea for a puzzle :)

It's a bit ironic that as the maker of this puzzle I haven't even beat the 100s mark on expert :D

I did just realised I haven't played Minesweeper for a bit,so I had a quick shot, hopefully the addiction won't flare up again, heh
#9: Eric Francis (airdrik) on Jun 19, 2008
There are actual websites dedicated to minesweeper. with top times around 40 seconds, it makes our 82 second times look slow.
#10: Merili (merilinnuke) on Jun 19, 2008
Wow, 40 seconds? Really? Suddenly I'm feeling like a snail... :)
#11: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 20, 2008
Eh, they have no life. I think any lower than 80 goes from being impressive to being sad, but that's mostly because I can't to it!
#12: Eric Francis (airdrik) on Jun 23, 2008 [SPOILER]
I have to agree with you Arduinna. I'd even go as far as to say that those who go much lower than 100 are probably spending more time on minesweeper than they should be.

Of course I wouldn't mind another minesweeper field as a puzzle. Perhaps an intermediate and an expert.
#13: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 23, 2008
It's a good thing we don't spend waaaay too much time on webpbn! ;)
#14: Naomi Millar (sailormewtwo) on Jun 25, 2008 [SPOILER]
You know, Eric, I decided to do another and solved an intermediate, and just remembered that's what this puzzle is.

Now, an Easy would be doable, if a bit small. Problem with Expert is that the colour selection is limited to (if admittedly /perfect/ for) up to 3. Then again, I'm a bit tired now, so I may be up for fiddling around with it another time :)
#15: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Aug 19, 2008
How is 40 seconds even possible?
#16: Gator (Gator) on Jan 4, 2010 [SPOILER]
Very cool puzzle! My best scores are 58 expert, 29 intermediate, 8 beginner - but that was ages ago. I doubt I could ever beat those again.

Well, I'm appalling at Minesweeper. Always have been. If I concentrate really hard and proceed carefully, I can sometimes finish an easy. Hahaha I just get fed up and start clicking at random... I don't know what it is; I'm generally good with puzzles and something like that should be right up my street, but it just... isn't.

Great puzzle... cheers :)

Great idea for a puzzle. I think different puzzles appeal to different people. We are good at what we like for the most part. :)

Well, I certainly wouldn't have figured it out if you hadn't explained it. But I love the game. Interesting puzzle. thanks!
