Puzzle Description:
Two Dinosaures in a long long past time ( for my boy )
#1: Jan Wolter (jan) on May 6, 2007
It took me some time and effort, but in the end I decided that this is logically solvable, though it's a long march with some tricky bits, especially in the upper left of the puzzle.#2: Nancy Whitney (ngoroff) on Oct 17, 2007
Good image, and lots of hard work for folks who like to work hard.
This is my favorite kind of pbn, one where you have to stop and think and look for a pixel here and a pixel there before you can make progress. Bit by bit, it comes together. Well done!#3: Bionerd (nieboo) on Oct 24, 2007
I couldn't do the upper left corner. I finally guessed. I feel ashamed.#4: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Dec 14, 2007
Good puzzle.
I had to guess the upper left corner too, but did it without peeking the solution.#5: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jan 14, 2009
Tricky. Thanks for the puzzle. :o)
Right there with you Nieboo, hanging my head in shame! I checked the comments hoping for a hint, when when I saw that Bionerd and Gitte both had to guess, I just went for the guess.#6: Nora Jean Miller (normaljeans) on Jun 8, 2009
Very cool looking puzzle and tricky all the way through!
I had to guess too, but didn't look at the solution. Nice image.#7: Paul Fritsch (pfrit) on Jul 1, 2010 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Very Hard! However, there is only one dinosaur. Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs. They are reptiles of a now extinct order, though some believe that they shared a common ancestor. And they had fur!#8: Gary Calvin (garycalvin) on Jul 22, 2010 [HINT]
Some very tricky edge logic on the first few rows. Start by satisfying yourself that the 2 and 4 in the first row can't go together in the first ten squares. That will help a little, but won't get you very far. Then work with the 2 in the first row, and notice its implications for the 5 and 6 in the third and fourth rows. You do need to look ahead more than is common, but I would call it solvable.#9: Jota (jota) on Sep 23, 2010 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Look what the cat brought me!#10: Gator (gator) on Jul 1, 2011 [HINT]
Edge logic to place the 4 R1 will give you some help, then the 2 R1 will help a little more. Then I went for the 5 in R3 and I solved it w/o guessing. If you want better explanations you have to wait for Gator.
PS: Paul, the one on the left is totally a feathered dinosaur.
Line logic will get all but the upper left part done. I used edge logic to see that the 2 and 4 clues in row 1 could not go in columns 1-7, so the 4 clue must go to the right (this makes R1C21 black). Edge logic in row 1 also lets you dot R1C23 and R1C24. Some more line logic.#11: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Jul 2, 2011
Next I used (internal) edge logic with the 10 clue in row 4 to see that R4C24 was a dot. The rest was line logic.
Very fun puzzle.
well thank Gator it was one off my first puzzle and I wasn't aware of edge puzzle theory at the time I deduce it but not with the theorical knowledge and know-how that we now posses with the help on this website. Glad you like it#12: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Aug 28, 2012
terrific. Solvable with logic alone.#13: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Sep 1, 2012
thanks it was my only second puzzle post in here such a long time ago#14: Kathleen Carney (red45) on Jan 18, 2014
Great puzzle! It almost broke my brain, lol - what a terrific challenge!#15: Kathleen Carney (red45) on Jan 18, 2014
Great puzzle! It almost broke my brain, lol - what a terrific challenge!#16: Lizzy B (lizzyb) on Jul 6, 2016 [HINT]
I didn't exactly guess, but I didn't exactly solve logically either. I had everything but the upper left, so I did what I sometimes do and started from one corner filling in until I found a contradiction. It just happened that my first try resulted in the finished puzzle!#17: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Jul 7, 2016
solved for a second time. nice and no guessing#18: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jul 18, 2016
Great fun.#19: Leah Drakeford (leah225) on Jul 31, 2016
Very fun and challenging!#20: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Nov 26, 2016
wow been such a long time ago re thanks to every one#21: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Oct 18, 2017
And by the time I'm commenting, it's been even longer. ^-^
