The crass word is the one I want to use after wasting my time on a pattern puzzle.

I have a question - this puzzle is on the featured puzzle list for today - yet all the comments are negative and it has 1* for quality. Shouldn't there be a requirement for puzzles to have a certain quality level before being featured?

I agree Steve. There are so many good puzzles on this site that could be featured. My guess is the featured puzzles are random and based only on difficulty. There are lots of other ways to search for puzzles. The find puzzles button can bring you the exact type of puzzles you like to solve.

Moot, does that mean there's a field where we can filter out pattern puzzles in a search? Or do we just rely on the fact that most pattern puzzles will have very low quality ratings?

Thanks Brian. I do use the find puzzles option sometimes but I like the main page because it's easy :)

I usually sort by quality (or difficulty) highest first, to get rid of pattern and fill in puzzles. I also choose puzzles that I have not saved solutions for in the status drop down to find puzzles that are new to me. I prefer smaller puzzles so I usually sort for 30x30 and under.

Steve. I always check out the featured puzzles first. I love when I "discover" a gem that I missed when it first came around or before I joined.
