Puzzle Description:

I asked a friend of mine what I should draw for my next puzzle. She "requested" this scene. I think she needs a vacation. MANY, MANY iterations for solvability later...here you go...

A really appropriate image as we are having rain again. (Thankfully, no flooding or tornadoes.) Makes me want to go there.

I needed to do a lot of counting on the water ripples to get jump-started a couple of times. But nice puzzle overall. Thanks.

What a lovely image. It took a lot of counting. I think I could use a vacation, after all that work! :-)
#3: Christine Freer (cfreer) on May 13, 2010
Lovely image. Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce it.

Finally!

Ditto Leah’s comment. I love the big challenging puzzles. Nice job with the shadow. Great image as well.

Thanks

glad you liked it...this was a PAIN to check and make solvable. later, when i learned about the "Helper" button in the puzzle-creating menu i immediately thought back to this puzzle and facepalmed

thanks. a lot of good staff.

Beautiful! Very tricky! Nothing like sailing into the sunset...
#11: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jan 15, 2022
Quite, quite lovely. Very, very tough solve. No guessing exactly, but some serious "look aheads".

Responding to comment #8: David, the "Helper" button wasn't always there. I am not sure what year Jan added it, but it's very possible that this puzzle is older than the button. So no facepalm needed.
#13: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jan 16, 2022
Hm. I searched the forum and found a mention of the helper in 2008, so I guess it was already there in 2010 when you made this puzzle. But you may well have been using the site longer than the button has been there.

I guess I can just assume that test solving this over and over helped me with my solving skills in general :P

Silver lining!

I usually shy away from puzzles with so many consecutive 1s (too much counting for my taste), but I'm glad I pushed through on this one because it's such a nice image!
#17: Lollipop (lollipop) on Jun 16, 2023
This has been sitting in my partly solved puzzles for who knows how long. Tough solve, but *so* worth it. It's gorgeous in B&W. All these years later, thank you David.

Thanks Lollipop! :D
