After line solving dead-ends, you should concentrate on the lower left-hand corner.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Specifically, look at columns 8-11 at the bottom.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Even more specifically:
There is a 4 or 5 as the bottom clue in each of these columns.
> Start with the far right column (c11). If the 4 were placed anywhere in rows 26-30, the 5 in row 27 and 3 in r29 would force conflicts with c8's clues. So c11r26-30 is white.
> If the 4 in c10 is placed anywhere in rows 26-31, the 4 in r28 and the 3 in r29 will cause a conflict with c7's clues. So c10r26-30 is white.
> If the 4 in c9 starts in r26, then the 6 in r26 and the 5 in r27 will cause a conflict in c7, so c9r26 is white.
> Now if the 4 in c9 is placed anywhere in r27-31, the 3 in r29 and the 2 in r30 will cause a conflict in c7. So c9r27-31 is white.

Now it can be finished with line logic.

--Oops, there's one more spot with simple, but "beyond helper" logic needed: In row 32, the right 1 needs to be in either c27 or 28. If it were in c28, it would force the 11 in c27 up into r21, where it would conflict (due to the white above the 11 in c28). Therefore r32c28 is white.

Ha, I barely recognized it was symmetrical, lot of fun to solve, I'd like to see it in blue next time, it's definitely cooler. :P

It was a realatively easy solve - just a bit tedious. Nice image. I think I would like the blue added - easier on the eyes.

Ditto #4 on the "tedious" solve.
#6: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Mar 9, 2010
Found to be logically solvable by Gator.
#7: Jane Doe (telly) on Mar 9, 2010
nice image and a good solve...yes, a bit tedious, but that's ok. ;)
#8: Jan Wolter (jan) on Mar 9, 2010
I didn't find it tedious at all. I liked it a lot. Maybe all that red wears people down.

I think in the original, EVERYTHING that is now white would have been blue. Now, THAT would be tedious.

I've sometimes thought it would be nice if there was an option to have the "background" color be something other than white. I think it would be confusing though.

Posting these puzzles on the home page is a great idea of Jan's. I enjoyed solving this one very much. Plus I loved what I learned.

Thanks, Norma. It's nice to see some of my old ones showing up again.

Why not go backwards to all my old puzzles? http://webpbn.com/find.cgi?search=1&author=infrapinklizzard&order=9
