Puzzle Description:

To think, I'd drawn almost forty puzzles for this site before finally getting around to drawing a toaster.

#1: Mark Conger (aruba) on Jul 1, 2004

A nice quick one.
#2: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Nov 29, 2006
Cute little puzzle.

Why might one get around to drawing a toaster sooner?
Good rendition.
#4: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Oct 2, 2007 [SPOILER]
It's a nice toaster. Why have bread and water when you can so easily have toast and tea. That's a quote but I'm not sure of the source and the wording may be not exact, but it popped into my mind when I finished the puzzle.

Indeed, I also want to know why this particular image might seem an imperative. Did I miss an inside joke?

Toasters have some kind of mysterious significance to computer geeks that is a bit hard to describe.

Perhaps you've seen the classic "flying toaster" screen saver. Various black box devices get called "toasters" and device driver coding examples generally pretend to be a device driver for a toaster. There's a talking toaster in red dwarf and cylons are sometimes referred to as toasters, and there is Thomas Disch's science fiction classic, "The Brave Little Toaster".

But mostly I was pulling your legs.

Talkie Toaster!

Holly: "I know everything! Metaphysics, philosophy, the purpose of being--everything! Ask me a question, any question, and I'll answer it."

Talkie Toaster: "The question is this: Given that God is infinite, and that the universe is also infinite... would you like a toasted teacake?"

Would you believe we received 5 sets of drinking glasses as wedding presents and not one toaster?
#8: m2 (mercymercy) on Mar 6, 2008 [SPOILER]
I just thought you meant that it would be an easy puzzle to make since a toaster isn't very complex.
#9: Byrdie (byrdie) on Dec 27, 2008 [HINT]
Not to mention that they used to give them as gifts when you opened a bank or credit card account.
Very nice image and fun to solve.
#10: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Apr 19, 2010

#11: Diana W (aeris) on Feb 7, 2011 [SPOILER]
Nice. I love the flying toaster screensaver. :) Until I finished it, I thought it was someone reading a book.
#12: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Apr 13, 2011
Do I have to throw the computer to see it fly?
