Nice one.

Once again Gator, very nice but too symmetric for me.

I'll work on getting you some more that are not symmetrical. :) They are more fun anyway.

EDIT: BTW, the other three (5732, 5733, 5735) I have out there are not symmetrical.

A lot of people like to solve puzzles quickly, and when they know it's symmetrical, it's so much faster and easier to just, for example, put a row of 3 black on the left when you know you just put in the corresponding spaces on the right. I think some people get bored with a symmetrical puzzle, so it's harder to stay consistent and line-solve it when you know you can much more quickly just fill in "where you know it should go." Something like that, anyway.

Griddlers.net bans all symmetrical puzzles. But they ban all sorts of things (hearts, flags, puzzles that can't be solved with line solving alone).

Different PBN sites have different rules, obviously. But so do different people who solve PBN puzzles. Which is great. Everyone should follow the solving rules that they are most comfortable with. On this site I have a particular definition of what I consider "logically solvable," but I recognize that many users couldn't care less. They use a combination of guessing and solving, and as long as they can get to the solution they are happy. That's why many puzzles that aren't logically solvable nevertheless have pretty good ratings.

Given how many people guess freely when solving puzzles, it's hardly a wonder that many also use symmetry. But hardly anyone really likes it. Every time you figure out a cell, you have to click two (or four or eight) copies of it to mark it. That significantly increases the amount of clicking relative to thinking.

Thanks for the insight. "Logically solvable" is a requirement for me to get to the end of a puzzle.
