The "H" for Hercules.

Hercules had a ring that gave him the powers of the olympus and it had that "h"

Oh, ok.

Found to be logically solvable by jan.
#7: Jan Wolter (jan) on Apr 4, 2009 [HINT]
I ended up using some summing horizontally in the end. On the left side there was a little area that was not completely solved by line solving (and a much larger area on the right). From the column clues, I knew that six of the unknowns in the left area had to be black. The bottom two rows clearly had to have 3 blacks, so the upper three rows with unknowns had to have 3 as well. Knowing that there could only be 3 unknowns in those rows, I was able to dot one cell. With that cell dotted the rest of the puzzle solved.

For clarification, the cell that was dotted out was R21C1 as 4 cells on row 21 would have to be filled in for R21C1 to be black. And as Jan stated, there can only be 3 in the upper part.

Thanks for the hint Jan as the edge logic doesn't get you anywhere without looking 2-3 moves ahead as far as I could see.

Very nice logic!

Interesting image. The ball made me think of some kind of volleyball.

When I got to the point described by Jan (I believe), I used internal edge logic. If you fill R19C34, then R19C35 fills, and so do R20 C34-35, but that would create an error in R20. Ergo, R19C34 is blank, R21C34 is filled, and the rest solves with line logic. That said, I think Jan's logic was more creative!

This was still on tv when I was very young. I can hear Newt's high voice: "Herc! Herc!" And Herc would always hear Newt's call, raise his fist to the sky. Close-up on the ring radiating power, making a certain eerie sound.

Thanks for the memories.
