At first I thought the sign at the top was going to be a flag- good surprise! Thanks for the puzzle, and good luck with the contest.

I thought I was going to get verbally manhandled (by the US contingent of puzzlers on the site) for suggesting that Wal-Mart was representative of the US. Where are the haters?

Seriously - don't get me started! Walmart is capitalism-gone-wrong. I had a nightmare once that the Walmart people somehow erected a gi-normous lighted sign over our planet so that it could be read from deep space...I'm sure they're already working on it...

Wal-Mart could be more American and less Chinese -(Of course we would have to pay more). I think our country is probably owned mostly by the Chinese & Arabs. (Is it OK to say Arabs?)

Good puzzle, I never went to Wal-mart when it first opened, but now I have no choice. You are so clever!

I only go to Walmart as a last result. My husband gleefully goes whenever he gets the chance but fortunately he doesn't do very much shopping.

After solving "wal" I was expecting Wall St. Nice surprise.

another american crap puzzle - why do americans always settle for the weakest of everything - horrible cigaraettes, world's weakest beer, keep going to war for a tie instead of a win like the germans or brits, 4 down football (you could just trip holding your hands out and make a first down every 4 downs and they can't even get that right - and a rest between each play!! - how about a real sport like soccer or rugby). never been in a walmart, never will - they are polluting my country. Grow up america - try for something better than being the world's lowest common denominator - remember darwin - the weak don't last long.
A Proud Canadian

There we go. Now THAT'S what I was expecting.
#14: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Jan 30, 2009
And we mite have start WW3 between Canadian and USA just now, than the Brtit are going to try save us, maybe even the French so someone can have his butt kick hard ( as usual for a French since Napoleon defeat at Waterloo) its the start of something bigger then we expect here....:-)

Well done! I like the fact that it's at an angle, not straight on. It makes it much more interesting to solve!

Lol, this is fun! And the French don't help much. As I heard once, going to war without the french is like going hunting without your accordian player. And I admit, I hate Wal-Mart. But there are obviously enough people who don't or they wouldn't survive.

Surprising image with a unique perspective. Very nice.
