is it a beetroot?#3: Jota (jota) on Jan 4, 2009 [SPOILER]
It's obviously an apple (Title?)#4: m2 (mercymercy) on Jan 5, 2009 [SPOILER]
Actually Eve did not eat an apple.#5: Jota (jota) on Jan 5, 2009
Malum, malum, since I was not there I really don't know what she ate, so I went with general believe, thinking that so did Justin.#6: m2 (mercymercy) on Jan 6, 2009 [SPOILER]
Well I can say this much, in the Bible after Adam and Eve were forced out of the garden angels were placed at the gate to guard the "other" tree, the tree of life. It is reasonable to guess that the fruit they ate is an unknown fruit for us.#7: Byrdie (byrdie) on Dec 19, 2010 [SPOILER]
The reason many assume it is an apple is that in some languages the word for apple and the word for fruit are the same. Thus came translation problems leading many people to think it was an apple.
I just like to get people to read what is actually there rather than rely on tradition.
I've heard some discussion that it translated to an apricot but common convention is that it was a apple. Since the point of the story is less about what kind of fruit and more about the action, I guess it doesn't really matter to me.#8: Jota (jota) on Dec 19, 2010
Pretty sure it wasn't a beetroot ... lol
I love beets!#9: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Nov 8, 2011 [SPOILER]
Looks a bit like a persimmon. :)#10: Beth Briggs (yodatrophy) on Nov 28, 2017
And yes, in the Bible it was the "fruit of the knowledge of good and evil," not "apple." Like the devil (who was never described as having red skin or horns or a tail), it became so through paintings.
I thought it was an ornament on a Christmas tree. Just goes to show everyone sees something different.
