Puzzle Description:

A skunk

#1: Jan Wolter (jan) on Oct 28, 2004 [HINT]

The last part of this tunnel requires some fancier reasoning, the same kind of boundary stuff that turns up from time to time.
#2: Mark Conger (aruba) on Jul 21, 2004
Thi requires a little extra logic at one point, I think. Good one! A big tail.
#3: Gitte Olesen (granny40) on Nov 14, 2006
Very good brain-exercice.
#4: zachmate (zachmate) on Mar 18, 2007
very good challenge. while i knew from the title what it would be, it was still a challenge to find it.
#5: Ga Hendrick (GaHendrick) on Feb 23, 2008
While I'm a novice at these puzzles, I could not finish the upper right hand quadrant without guessing at the location of the last column.
#6: Lisa Swomley (twizzler) on Mar 8, 2008
Same here, GaHendrick.
#7: Jan Wolter (jan) on Mar 9, 2008
Someday I'm going to have to write an essay on advanced solving techniques. There are more ways forward in these puzzles than meet the eye.
#8: Ben Forgard (ben.1) on Mar 27, 2008 [SPOILER]
Wow that was hard at the end... I used probably more of a very logical educated guess just for one square, which enabled the whole thing to finish out.
#9: David Martinelli (dalex64) on Jun 18, 2008 [HINT]
I found this one to be very difficult, because I kept making mistakes in the lower half of the puzzle and kept starting over.

The unusual or advanced technique involved, I guess, is placing the top line. you can greatly limit the number of places it can go by filling in the 2nd line at the same time, by putting in the white-space markers and filling in the square for the columns that need 2, when you fill in the 4 for the top line. Many places you might think the row of 4 can go makes filling in the 2nd line impossible, therefore the first row of 4 can not go there.

Simple edge logic solved this for me. Excellent puzzle.
#11: Scott C (estray98) on Dec 1, 2008 [HINT]
pppppppppppppppp, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, with that said, very nice puzzle
#12: Byrdie (byrdie) on Sep 15, 2009 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Ditto #10 - edge logic at the tip of the tail. Nice puzzle and well rendered.
#13: Claudia DeVuono (cdevuono) on Dec 22, 2009
Great puzzle, Jan. Learning some new logic techniques here.
#14: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 29, 2009
Great image and lots of fun to solve.

This sure is one stinky puzzle! :-P
#16: Skittles (Skittles66011) on May 10, 2010
This was a lot of fun--nice image, just enough challenge.
#17: Diana W (aeris) on Feb 4, 2011 [SPOILER]
I wish there was a better stripe on the tail, but it's still a good image.
#18: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jul 4, 2013 [SPOILER]
We've got some reverse skunks around here. They are actually two-stripe skunks like this puzzle, but the white stripes are so wide that they go all the way down the sides and leave only a small black stripe in the center of the back.

They smell the same, tho.
#19: John Reid (femvoxfan) on Jun 7, 2020
Tail was hard, but not too hard to finish. Good one!
#20: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Sep 15, 2021
What a delight to have this gem pop up. I probably ought to go solve all of Jan's puzzles but it is such a thrill when a "new" one shows up.
#21: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Sep 15, 2021
Ditto to what Brian said!
#22: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Sep 15, 2021 [SPOILER]
What do you call a dead skunk?
