By all means, blot away! However, if I didn’t like blots, my reply would be found in Macbeth 5:1.#9: Bill (PopPop ) on Jan 2, 2025 #10: Kathy Cain (kathycain) on Jan 2, 2025

I think a cool feature would be an autoblot program. You could set it to the degree of blottyness from minimal to maximum solvable. The program would then give you blot suggestions. You could then try solving to see if it made a good puzzle.#16: Valerie Mates (valerie) on May 7, 2025
This is essentially the process I go through making a blotted puzzle. Randomly try blotting a whole bunch of clues then hit the check button to see if I have a multiple solutions. I then remove the offending blots and try again. Once I have a unique solution I then solve the puzzle to make sure it is not too hard. It would just be nice if that middle part could be automated.
I think more creators might make blotted puzzle if we had a little blotting assistant.
Oh I like that!#17: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on May 8, 2025
It would be in an area of the code that is hard to work with, and my WebPBN To Do list is a mile long, but I will add it to the list!
Valerie, don't stress over it. Except for me and perhaps Joe, I don't know if anyone would even use that resource. Perhaps a poll of creators to see if this is even a worthwhile idea.#18: Valerie Mates (valerie) on May 9, 2025
What do you think puzzle creators...If an auto blotting tool existed, would you use it to make more blotted puzzles?
I think it could lead to more blotted puzzles, and as a big fan of solving blotted puzzles, I like it!
