That was a great final. Martinez (the goalie) deserves so much credit too along with Messi. That save near the end of extra time, and those penalty saves too.

Thanks for your comments. This was not about the game, this was about winning the cup! Third World Cup for Argentina, after 36 years. The whole team was great, so was the coach.
But Messi is an idol in Argentina. He is one of the best players in the world. He lived abroad for most of his life but never forgot his roots. He is so loved here! But he had never won with the national team until this year. First the American Cup, now the World Cup. his last World Cup, for he is 35 years old.
I can't describe the celebrations everywhere on Sunday night, and then again on Tuesday when they arrived to Buenos Aires, 5 millon people on the streets! We deserved the joy.
