OP wishes for COVID cases per day down to zero.
Stomping it down implies taking action to make that happen.
However, here in the USA, only 60% agree with that wish.

Conservatives in the govt do what they can to help it spread so that the cases/deaths for the current president (who they oppose) surpass the numbers for the previous president (who they support). Whenever it looks like this tactic is eroding their voting base too badly in states where the voting is close (aka "swing" states), they go on tv and temporarily advocate masks and vaccines.

Also, that's the actual Covid case-count graph that the foot is stomping on.

My fervent prayer is that people realize getting the vaccine is the intelligent thing to do. One of my daughters works in our largest state hospital here in Iowa on a floor that has essentially become a covid ward. People die on that floor every day...it is only the unvaxxed that are dying...even people in their twenties. When the rare vaccinated person is admitted, even if they are elderly, they recover. The blind people who do not get vaccinated, out of misinformation spread by an immoral president are gambling with their lives.
