Puzzle Description:
Flee (flea)
#1: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jan 19, 2022 [SPOILER]
I enjoyed the solve and the image, but am having a little trouble applying the name of the series to it. Is that single spot the flea? What is the design on the body supposed to be?#2: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 19, 2022 [SPOILER]
That is a dog scratching and a flea fleeing.#4: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Jan 20, 2022 [HINT]
I needed to use edge logic on column 14 (row 2) and that was enough to get the ball rolling to complete the puzzle. I may've missed something, though (in fact at some points the puzzle has no hints when line logic is available,) so I don't want to mark this as definitely needing lookahead.#5: Alison P Deem (Indigo1) on Jan 20, 2022
Great to see a new series!
Nice idea for a series. Love the puzzles!#6: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Jan 20, 2022
Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by valerie.#7: Valerie Mates (valerie) on Jan 20, 2022 [HINT]
Andrew, I got stuck and used your advice from #4 to get going again. My vote too is that it needed lookahead -- I agree with your call.#8: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Jan 20, 2022
Love the series! This could be a long one ...#9: Jota (jota) on Jan 20, 2022
I hope!
Another Brainy one! Thanks!#10: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jan 23, 2022 [SPOILER]
Great action of the dog scratching!#11: Gator (gator) on Feb 23, 2022 [HINT]
Alternatively, you could use edge logic on C16 to make R18C16 a dot.#12: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Dec 29, 2022 [HINT]
Nice puzzle!
I did internal edge logic on the 6 in c2 - it can't go in r9-10 without causing a conflict in c3. Then LL to finish#13: Paul B (butterp) on Dec 25, 2025 [SPOILER]
I'm no ecologist, but it does seem like fleas are an animal we could do without.#14: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Dec 29, 2025 [SPOILER]
from the interwebs: Fleas, despite being pests, play roles in ecosystems as a protein source for predators (birds, lizards, spiders), by aiding in decomposition (larvae eat organic matter), and potentially influencing host animal populations through disease transmission, contributing to natural population control, and acting as a link in the food web, turning host blood into energy for other creatures like ants and beetles.
