Puzzle Description:

Badger the witness.

Do you, badger, swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

Everyone is welcome to join in on this series. I'm going for terms that don't necessarily have to do with the animal. I may even play fast and loose with spelling.

Very enjoyable. I like the idea of the series. I did have to guess twice.
#3: Lollipop (lollipop) on Jan 19, 2022
No guessing.
#4: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jan 20, 2022 [HINT]
here are the advanced moves i made:

- IEL: if the black in C7R4 is the 1 clue, then it and the resulting blacks for the 6 will trigger 6 blacks in the rows above and below, but there are only 5 blacks in the clues for those rows total, so that C7R4 is part of the 6 clue

- if C3R10 is black it places the 1-3-1 fully, but in a way that violates R9, so C3R10 is a dot.

i think one or both constitute deep lookahead, but definitely not guessing :)

Found to be solvable with deep lookahead by dbouldin.
#6: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Jan 20, 2022 [HINT]
David, some pedantry to what I think is a good big-picture solution. For the IEL, I think only 5 black squares are triggered because column 9 has a "1" to start, but 10-14 have 2's.

However, doing this would also make C6R3 a dot, leaving no 1 in colmun 6.

Let me know if I messed up!

Good one Brian! I've done that many times myself...
#8: Jota (jota) on Jan 20, 2022
Splendid!

Badgers? We don't need no steenking badgers!
#10: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 20, 2022
Fun! I'll solve the rest, then see if I can think of any new ones. :)

Nice image and a fun solve.

Good job. I laughed towards the end when I saw I had a line of six to go in. Totally missed it at the start. Excellent image. It conveys a lot with few pixels.
#13: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Jan 23, 2022
Lots of fun! Thanks for the new series!

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.

Andrew - the reason that David's logic works is that you also have to complete the 2 clue in C7. That makes the sixth black that would have to be filled in R3 and R5.

Here are some of the things that I noticed.

There are only 2 places the 3 clue in C18 can go without making C16 invalid. In both cases, R10C16 is black. Also since the 3 clue cannot go in R8-10C18, then R7 is black. LL.

If the 5 clue goes all the way to the left, then R9C10 would also have to be black. If you look at how this affects R10, it will make it invalid. So R9C3 is a dot.

With David's first hint, this finishes with LL.

I think we have enough here to make this one moderate.
