This one I had never seen before, nor do I understand the need for one.
Thanks for the series, very inspiring!

After LL/CL

If the 16 in r1 went all the way right, there would no room for the 2 in r3. So r1c20-21 must be white.
LL

Then I only see Deep Lookahead.
If the 2 in c21 were in r3-4 then:
> it would make everything under r4 white in c20-21, forcing r6's 2 into c18-19
> which would make everything under r6 white in those columns.
> Which leaves no room for the 1 in r7
= Therefore our assumption was wrong and there and r3c21 must be white

Much like above:
If the 2 in c21 were in r4-5 then:
> it would make everything under r5 white in c20-21, forcing r6's 2 into c18-19
> Which would then conflict with r7
= Therefore our assumption was wrong and there and r4c21 must be white

LL to finish

Wow Kristen! That went DARK!

Sounds more like for devil's food cake.
#10: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Apr 2, 2021
I'm asking myself, why are people saying fook? Then I read my own description. I meant angle fook kake.
#11: Jota (jota) on Apr 2, 2021
Thanks JoDeen I hope I get to try it one day!

Lol Jota...it's just a fussy foodie thing. Probably one of those tools that eventually will be looked upon as one of those fun novelty tools someday, though when we used to actually bake angel cakes from scratch, they were wonderful to use. Such tender high cakes we made! It was a pride thing. I haven't actually made one myself from scratch in ever so long. Now that does make me feel old. It doesn't stop me from remembering, though. The angel cakes nowadays really don't compare...and I am being honest. They are dense...and gummy.

As an odd side note, in the 60's when the "Afro" was popular, cake cutters were used as afro picks.

Look familiar?

Good puzzle. Had no problem at all. On the 16 and 17 across. Fill in the 16 and if it doesn't work then fill in from the opposite end. Same with the 17. "Piece of Cake" from then on. Enjoyed the solve. Thanks!

Thanks for the correction Brian! I had a feeling that's what you meant, but I didn't want to call you out on it. :)

Learn something new everyday...never heard of this before! Fun puzzle, btw!
#18: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Apr 6, 2021 [HINT]
i used a bit of summing:

the vertical clues show only 8 blacks in C18-21. The 2s in R4-6 and the 1 in R7 must account for 7 of those. So half of the 2 in R2 has to stick into C17.

LL to the end.

I can't remember if summing is deep or moderate...and also, i'm not great at the line between moderate and deep sometimes, so I'll leave any declarations to others.
#19: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Apr 6, 2021 [HINT]
Unfortunately, that one pixel could be any of the rightmost blobs in r4-15. Disproving that would add on steps to make it deep lookahead.
#20: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Apr 7, 2021 [HINT]
True, I guess it has that added step of identifying "the last clue in R4-7 and at least part of R3 must be right of C17" as a precursor. good call.

Good illustration. Though simple, it did take guessing to finish.
