Puzzle Description:

... Keeping up foreign relations. (I know this one's a bit 'out-there', but I'd be SO PROUD if anyone gets my references!)

Is it a gun scope?
I suppose that's one kind of foreign relations...

Or maybe an old school phone bug, the type that you'd unscrew the mouthpiece and slip this little round circuit board in there, then screw the mouthpiece back on.

WTG Jota, you got it!!

The image is of an aircraft cockpit instrument, the Attitude Indicator a.k.a. Artificial Horizon. It's a gyrscopic instrument that maintains a level horizon (blue/sky up and brown[green] earth down) while the aircraft maneuvers around it, thus when an aircraft flies upside down, the blue is on the bottom, earth-color on top.

And then, of course, since the AI is showing an upside-down attitude, you have the natural thought tangent to Top Gun, wherein Maverick (Tom Cruise) flies inverted directly above an enemy aircraft, almost cockpit-to-cockpit (never mind the physical impossibility of this; it's just a move)... giving him the bird... You know, the finger! :)

Very pretty image, but I had no idea what it was. Rewarding solve anyway.

Yonah, I find puzzles much easier when the grid is a multiple of 5.

Thank you for the feedback, Joe. I do too. But I'm also a stickler for perfection, so I have a (bad) habit of resizing to exact dimensions. Moving forward, I'll try to stick to what you and I both prefer from a solver's perspective! :)
