... the hi-beam dimmer switch on the floor?
#1: Joanne Firla (JoFirla) on Jul 31, 2020
Remember it? My daily driver still has one.#2: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jul 31, 2020
Oh, yeah. If you had a dimmer switch on the floor you probably had a clutch, so your left foot would get quite a workout if you were driving in the mountains.#3: Jota (jota) on Jul 31, 2020
Never saw one before!#4: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jul 31, 2020
Yes.#5: CB Paul (cbpaul) on Jul 31, 2020
Oh yeah... And btw, I still have a clutch. Automatics are boring.#6: Kathy Roth (clyde) on Aug 1, 2020
Cute. Yes.#7: besmirched tea (Besmirched Tea) on Aug 1, 2020 [SPOILER]
I don't think those went away until the 80's, probably around the same time as the center/3rd brake light began.#8: Kristen Coolman (kristen) on Aug 1, 2020
fun puzzle. I didn't guess what it was until the forehead smacking solution.
That tracks. I was born in '75, so if my parents had one, I was too young to remember. :)#9: Carol Brand (KarylAnn) on Aug 1, 2020 [SPOILER]
Funny I was just talking about this the other day. It used to be you needed your brights on Long Island because it was so rural; these days, unfortunately, too many houses, too many cars, too much light, so no need really for the hi-beams anymore. My car wasn't a shift and it had the button on the floor.#10: Ga Hendrick (GaHendrick) on Aug 1, 2020 [HINT]
Fond memories of "yesteryear."#11: Gary Webster (glwebste) on Aug 3, 2020 [SPOILER]
Good use of color to enable us to see the solution.
I almost always drove an automatic transmission, but the cars I had all had that foot switch until the '80s.#12: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Aug 3, 2020
Joanne what's your daily driver?#13: Mat (Keiimaster) on Aug 3, 2020 [SPOILER]
I had a couple of these. I had a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that had one, and my 1978 Datsun 280z had one. Olds was Auto, 280z was 5 speed manual. I was born in 1973, so its not the age of the driver but the age of the car that matters here.#14: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 14, 2020
Yeah, that was so convenient. The only job the left foot had to do. Fun puzzle, Ron.
