Did you know that the arrow tells you which side of the car your gas door is on?

What happened to #4?
#3: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 16, 2020
I couldn't get #4 to save properly. I might have to redraw it. Driver's side.
#4: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 17, 2020 [SPOILER]
This is definitely a newer model, made in the last 10 years or so. Older cars didn't have these arrows, so we just had to back up and turn the car around, if we guessed wrong. (This normally meant we were accustomed to a car with the gas cap on one side, but just got a new car with the cap on the other side. Or we were borrowing a friend's car.)

Robot scratching his head :)
#6: Beep (Boop) on Jan 17, 2020
So new cars tell you there's a gas station ahead? And even point to which side of the road it's on? Cool.

Then there's Costco, where the gas hose is long enough that it doesn't matter which side of the car the pump is on, because you can pull the hose across the car and still reach the gas tank.
#8: Koreen (mom24plus) on Jan 17, 2020 [SPOILER]
It's not supposed to matter anymore. The pumps are supposed to have hoses to reach either side. unless, of course, you have a VERY LARGE DIESEL like me. not all of the models actually have the ARROW, but many of them
DO have the little icon, whichever sides it's on is the side the tank is on

Or Kristen, we were driving our husband's car for a change. ;)
#10: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 18, 2020
Not to mention rentals. I haven't rented cars that much so always (!) forgot to check which side the gas cap was on.
#11: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Jan 18, 2020
I wish those little arrows had been in existence when we had our car rental agency. Lol...I was always driving the flavor of the week and not only had to remember which side the gas tank was on, but what color the car was!
#12: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 18, 2020
Thank goodness for remotes, JoDeen. Now I just push my lock button and head for the beep. That saved me one day when I had driven my son-in-law's car to the shops. I headed for his car and when I got near I pushed the button...and nothing. Pushed again - nothing again.
Then a guy walked up and asked why I was staring at his car. I pushed the button again, and a beep came from down the row. As I walked away I heard him curse. --- It wasn't his car either.

How funny!

Fun.

I wonder what the icon would have looked like for cars with gas caps behind the license plate or in the center where a trunk lid would otherwise be... And EV/PHEV charge ports nowadays are all over the place! :)
