Well done!

The puzzle had standard line/color logic until I had to fill in the c2r2/c19r16 block. This is where it got interesting. I think this falls in the realm of moderate lookahead and not guessing, and apologes for any lack of clarity.

I focused on where the 3-wides would go in row 16.

r16 c7/c15 can be eliminated as black dots because you can work through each possibility pretty quickly. If they are in the middle of a 3-block, then r15 has a 1, which is illegal. However, you can also use lookahead to see that you can't have anything at c5/c9/c13/c17, either. The logic is very similar.

For c5-c7, you need to place the 3's in row 14 at c3-c5 and c7-c9, but then whether the 2 in column 9 goes up or down you have a contradiction: down, the 1-3-1 in column 11 is broken. Up, you cannot place the 2nd 3 in row 16. For c7-c9, you again have the same problem in column 11. Same for c13-15.

c15-c17 is actually a bit simpler as row 15 needs c13-c15 and c17-c19. That cut off row 16 from above, meaning any 3-wide will have one square that 1) must be part of a 2-high and 2) can only be part of a 1-high.

c6 c8 c14 c16 quickly fall because the 3-wide that they'd force would force a 1-wide on row 15.

But now c9 and c13 provide the same contradiction--c11r16 is black, c11r14 is black, and either (c9r14/c12r14) or (c10r14/c13r14) are both white, creating a contradiction on row 14--there will be a 1- or 2-wide.

c10-11-12 r 16 creates a contradiction on row 15, leaving only c3-4-5 and c17-18-19 in row 16. From then on it's pretty straightforward.

That was a really cool solve, Brian.

I had never heard of a hanger steak, had to look it up:

I, too, had to look it up. It's probably so expensive, it's probably only available to the very rich. Which is not me.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.

After LL
two-clue edge logic on r11: if either 3 crosses more than one clue > 1, then there would be no room for the other 3 to fit. So there is only one place for each 3.

LL to finish
