Puzzle Description:

Of course, this is a trivial paint-by-number, but the idea occurred to me it might be a nice joke for my first try. It's a 7-10 split in bowling, one of the very toughest to pick up. Maybe something like the 4-6-7-10 would be tougher, but I also wanted to make it easy for people to invert the whole board and fill in the blanks. If it were white with black pins/dots, I think you could swap any two kitty-corner 2x2 regions and get a possible alternate solution. Apologies if anyone did this before! I googled "site:webpbn.com bowling" and nothing turned up. ETA: here's an example video which shows how and why it is so tricky, since I should have realized it wasn't universal knowledge.

Never played bowling, so I don't know whay you are talking about.

The 7-10 split would be the hardest spare to make, but I have seen it done not only by the pros but also by others that I have bowled with in league play. It is something to behold when you see it.

Very easy, good image.

Hey, Andres, I'm glad to see you joined the creators' circle. I'll bet you get hooked in no time.

I'm not much of a bowler, but I did get a bowling trophy for "most improved" on the league. I improved from 43 to 76. Hahaha. It was fun anyway.

I can remember when pro bowling was very popular on TV. Saw the horrible 7-10 split picked up on occasion. As for my bowling? Teresa and I could start a league of our own. hehehe.

True story - I did this once! Was a complete fluke as I was just trying to get one down, but the ball just clipped the rhs of the right pin and it cartwheeled across and hit the left one! Much celebrating occurred!

I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the title vis a vis the actual difficulty

Thanks Besmirched Tea! I have a few others like this, but I don't want to overdo the concept or dump too much at once. It seems like it'd be easy to overdose here.

Congrats stevieb! The best I ever did was a 4-7-10 or a 6-7-10. I forget now. I didn't have the arm strength back when I was a kid to get a 7-10.

Norma Dee, I remember watching pro bowling on ESPN. I had favorite bowlers I wanted to imitate when I was in my kiddie bowling league. I still want to get a 200 some day. 189 is my high.

Teresa, thanks! I can binge on gaming websites if I don't watch it (I had to delete freecell.exe and map a freecell site to 127.0.0.1 in my host file) but I'd like to make a "real" image. It was sort of my goal this year to do some visual arts. I'd like to add something real, here, and I have some ideas, but they still feel ... well, a bit too on the nose. The interface to make puzzles helps. I've learned a lot about design in general just tinkering with it. I wish I'd have come by earlier to say thanks to Jan Wolter in person, now.
