Puzzle Description:

Most of the judges are running unopposed

Our precinct didn't have any judges. Sounds fishy, though.

Love your puzzle bt.

Good image and fun to solve.
In our district there were no Republicans running for local positions. A few ran for state supreme court.

wearing platform heels?

Every politician needs platforms.
#6: Jill Tallmer (Yidl) on Nov 6, 2018
That's a hoot

Our judges are initially appointed to the bench by the governor. Then after their appointment, every election year, we vote to either retain each judge or to send them off the bench.

As a Canadian, I've always found it weird that your judges are elected. Seems like there'd be a great potential for conflict of interest.

Great puzzle.

In Connecticut, superior court judges are recommended by the legislature to the governor, who then appoints them. However, I think it's really the other way around. When our governor was O'Neill, all the appointees were Irish. Under John Rowland, they were all young republicans from Waterbury. Under Dan Malloy, they're all from Stamford area. We just elected a new governor yesterday who is a wealthy businessman with no prior political experience (other than losing the last 2 governor's races), so I wonder whom he'll appoint. Tell ya in a year or so!

Thanks
We had about 10 low level judges running unopposed.
Only one was opposed, by some lawyer.
I haven't looked into it, but I suspect that this judge must have ruled against that lawyer, and he thought "Oh yeah? See you in November, Your Honor!"

Super puzzle, BT! Interesting comments. "platform shoes" hahaha!

The platform joke was awesome!

I was picturing Ruth Bader Ginsberg when I was drawing the puzzle, though she's obviously not on the ballot, and those were what I imagined to be her judging shoes because running shoes, while more appropriate, looked undiginified. And bonus, the platforms raised the picture by one pixel, almost touching all four sides of the 20x20 frame.

Seems she needs safer shoes being as how she fell and broke some ribs.

Haha, Joe!

...just for a second there, I thought it was Lizzie Borden...now there was a judge...also jury and executioner....

I was thinking it was Thor. Good puzzle. We didn't have any judges running in my district, thought.
