Puzzle Description:

The tanks moved excruciatingly slowly in "Combat!", the game that came free with the original Atari 2600. Even worse, they'd occasionally get stuck on the obstacles in the "Complex Maze" if you ran into them wrong.

One of my favorites! Especially the long & bouncy shot version of the tanks. The plane games were not so fun.

It was very inconvenient when you were trying to try to hide just behind a barrier when suddenly you are bounced around or even teleported through the barrier.

Ah, yes! This and Asteroids came with the console. Good times. Frustratingly good times.

Brings me back to the age when the video games were just that - no complicated levels to complete to finish the game (and eat your time) - just fun to play.

Good illustration on an old favorite.

Aw man! I remember this. It was such fun. Retro games and WebPBN just go together.

With all the advances in programming and technology, it's kind of crazy to look at the disassembly of an Atari game and see how much fit into 2k or 4k or 8k.

I remember thinking it was so cool the asteroids could be so many different colors, unlike the arcade with the white vector blobs.

I thought it was Space Invaders that came free with the system along with Combat--though it was so long ago, and Wikipedia etc. doesn't corroborate that. My grandparents got my sister and me the 2600. And I remember playing Space Invaders first. Memories!
