I don't know about "famous". He's a character from the Tarantino movie, Inglourious Basterds, played by the charmingly evil Christoph Waltz. (Well, I'm sure the actor isn't evil, but he's amazing at playing that sort of character.)

Agree Paul - most letter puzzles are almost fill-ins. These are a little tougher, especially when you haven't heard of the character

Never heard of this guy. I've heard of Dan'l Boone, and I think there was once another man from Nantucket.

check comment #1. He was German, but in a convoluted plot development, he demands a house in Nantucket.

...and he gets that house. Unfortunately, he had been harassed in Nantucket by the locals for his scarred forehead. In 1950 he sold his property in Nantucket and had an operation in Los Angeles. The scar could not be removed completely but the shape of the scar was no longer identifiable. We do not know about his whereabouts in after that. However, two months after his surgery Sgt. Aldo Raine went missing. In 1951 he returned to Europe. He failed to settle in Austria and West Germany, but his skills made him desirable in East Germany. He worked as a STASI agent, but due to his political background he never got a promotion. He died in Chemintz, two days after the fall of Berlin wall.
