Puzzle Description:

These are two ferrets we rescued this week. The brown one with the mask is named Bandit and the white one is Smokey. Which is kinda cute, I guess, but if we keep them, we're changing their names to Ares and Hercules... because we're nerds and we can't help ourselves! We didn't want to get any more ferrets, but these guys were abandoned in a vacant house with no food for 4 days!!

Neat pets; and congrats on the rescue work. I know the animals are happy to be with you! Thanks for a cool picture.

very nice. It took a second to see them, but once I did, then it was totally obvious. Fun to solve...I had to use some edge logic but not too horribly difficult. :D

I love the challenge this puzzle presented, and the image is great, took me a minute to see them too, the white one was the easiest to see, thanks :)

Excellent image! You've really caught the essence of ferret, as it were. I love how bendy they are - do you "bowl" with yours? (Ours *loved* being rolled up and slid down the hardwood floors - they'd come bouncing right back begging for another go!)

ditto everyone else's comments...& you know how I LOVE a good B&W :)

Thanks everyone! I love to watch them sleeping all curled up together. I think each of them has gained a pound already (which is probably about 1/4 of their body weight).

I'm starting to get attached to them... the question mark might end up coming off the title of the puzzle!

Oh, and Meg, I'll have to remember the bowling thing if we get a house with hardwood floors! LOL!

bowling with ferrets reminds me of the croquet in Alice in Wonderland...lol...sounds like fun.

I redid this to check the solvability. There are two places that need edge logic to solve it. The 11 in the first column on the left allows you to eliminate enough to get most of that column. Then you can do a bit of "internal" edge logic on the fourth and fifth columns where there is a 4 in the fourth column and a 3 in the fifth. You can eliminate enough to finish that off. The rest solves with simple line logic.

I wish there was a better way to rate these! It makes me not want to create hard puzzles!

Oh please keep creating hard puzzles, some of us absolutely adore doing the difficult ones Arduinna :)

I need to learn not to let it bother me when the ? shows up next to my puzzles. I spend a LOT of time on them making sure they're solvable, so I just get a little frustrated!

But, thank you Marz, for reminding me to focus on the positive! I always get lots of positive feedback, and I know most of my puzzlework is appreciated, so I will definitely not stop making them!

glad to hear it.

I agree with Arduinna: this is definitely logically solvable. Sorry it took me a long time to get around to checking it.

Thanks Jan!

very neat puzzle. I really had to concentrate. Thank you

Hard to see the second one.

Nice story. Tough puzzle. Can't find the second one.
#18: Gonzalo Herrera J. (gherrera) on Feb 25, 2021
Yo tampoco veo el segundo

An elegant puzzle for two elegant beasties. (Yes, I know how wacky and rambunctious ferrets can be, but their LINES are elegant!)
