Hmmmm, smile logic solves the red but I'm having trouble figuring out how to solve the black without resorting to symmetry.

Edge logic worked for me.

Simple EL makes R1C1-2 and R1C19-20 dots. You have to look 3 moves ahead to see that R1C3 and R1C18 are also dots. R1C4-5 and R1C16-17 will also be dots then with EL.

The same logic can then be done on R15 making R15C1-5 and R15C16-20 dots.

Simple EL also makes R2C1, R2C20, R14C1, and R14C20 dots.

Looking 3 moves ahead again, R2C2, R2C19, R14C2, and R14C19 will be dots. And then R3C1, R3C20, R13C1, and R13C20 will be dots looking 3 moves ahead.

And this is where I get stuck. You are basically at guess and check at this point.
