Puzzle Description:

As I was solving Cricketswool's puzzle, with all of the stylized curls, I kept expecting Bert Lahr's face to emerge.

IEL in column 12, rows 16-21, when you run out of line logic

Thanks :) I didn't want to do a 70x70 like the original, but I wanted to maintain a similar solving experience. :)

Every now and then I use my lucky mistake method to help with the solve. The one where you fill in or put a dot in the square and the red error pops up. I take advantage and put the opposite of what my mistake was and go from there. It's particularly useful on a tricky solve like this so that I can finish sooner and enjoy the wonderful puzzle.

Wonderful, Kristen! This was the perfect size for this kind of image.

Hmmmm. This is about the 10th time that the subject of "courage" has popped up in my life today. Guess I'll pay attention to the lesson that is offered.

Who put the Ape in Apricot?

I found it was not all that hard but it was easy to make mistakes.

With a complex puzzle, I like to grey out the clues I've already solved. That way, I can focus on the interior clues and see how they fit together.

As close to a perfect paint-by-numbers as can be made. The final image is a true work of art. The puzzle was difficult yet never unsolvable (although I had to back out of an error or two--in a puzzle magazine I would have been a loser). Although the identity of final picture was easily guessable about 70% of the way in, it was fun to see one of the most delightful and classic images in my lifetime come alive in its full glory. Thanks for three joyous days, Kristen (yes, it took me that long). What gave me the perseverance to finish the puzzle? COURAGE!!

Thanks, Bruce! I'm blushing. :)
