I had an urge to make a puzzle and ended up going throught the xkcd archive until I found something half decent.

I read through several of the "comics" after # 39 and many of them were funny. I guess I just didn't get this one.

child versus salad?

Child versus toy ship floating in a bowl (the water was greenish in the original).

But what's the point, whether it is a toy ship, a salad, green water, or whatever? One of us will run out of time? For what? LOL

Adam, I think that you have to think like a kid. I see that either the child will eat whatever is in the bowl (which will sink the boat) or the boat will "sail away" before the child sinks it.

Or I could be wrong.

Sounds good to me! No one else has given ANY possible solution, so I will go with yours. :-)

BTW, I've been following xkcd (and Randall Munroe, its creator) for over a decade now - he created many of the iconic comics for many computer and science situations, often quoted.
