Actually, if you look on the wiki page, it mentions that version as well, so you shouldn't be embarassed at all. :)

I think that's the way I learned it too! I couldn't figure out why it didn't seem quite right before.

I too didn't know there were more verses...lol. I went to that website (thanks Deanna) and was overwhelmed by how long the actual rhyme is...I liked the parodies at the end...I've heard a few of them. :)

It's good to have some regionality to our nursury rhymes.

It reminds me of a joke: At Christmastime some passersby in a Southern town noticed a nativity scene set up at the church. It included the baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, etc... but the odd thing was what appeared to be three firefighers included in the scene. So, the visitors asked a local about the odd nativity. The local responded, "Don't you read your Bible? It says three wise men came from afar?"

LOL...lol..

It might be good to mention that for a southerner in the U.S. "afar" is how they say "a fire".
#16: Jen (lightvader) on Jun 15, 2008
Thanks for mentioning that.
#17: Arduinna (arduinna) on Jun 16, 2008
Thanks!

OOh nice, well actually, I am a big whinger, it is going to be be about 18c tomorrow, hopefully, which works out to be about 65f, which is quite nice really. It is 59 now and midnight, I don't even need a heater on. We have got rain right now, so the cloud cover keeps it warmer, we have always got rain lately, the drought is certainly over, our dams are filling back up. Gosh I blabber on around midnight, better go to bed, enjoy your lovely weather Naneki :)

Thanks, Joe! I wondered where to find the longer version. I also adore the French "version."

It is so totally wonderful to solve a puzzle from years ago and read the ensuing comments over the years!
