Buddhism! Once, when my son was very small, he asked for a Buddha for Christmas. Word got around, and he ended up with quite a collection of little statues. Big ones, little ones, thin and fat, plaster and jade, and even one that plugs into the wall and lights up!

This is amazing .... really nice work.
MY son had a Buddha in his fish tank. It didn't seem right to me to have a religious figure in a fish tank....the fish lasted less than a week. Very good picture.#3: Arduinna (arduinna) on Apr 1, 2008
Did the fish die? Maybe it was a sign!#4: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Apr 1, 2008
The new series looks fun, Meg!
Thanks, guys! I'll be trying to make a new one every Sunday.#5: Christine Freer (cfreer) on Apr 8, 2008
Strange thing to ask for as a Christ-mas gift!#6: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Apr 8, 2008
:-) Only strange in the sense that it wasn't a skateboard, a violent video game, or the latest Family Guy DVD. Christmas gifts don't generally have much to do with Christ. (Now the *songs*... oh man, I do love religious Christmas music!)#7: Arduinna (arduinna) on Apr 8, 2008 [SPOILER]
I'll bet Jesus and Buddha are good friends, anyway! ;)#8: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Apr 8, 2008
They do seem to agree on an awful lot! ;-)#9: Gypso (Gypso) on Apr 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
This is a grand image Meg. Not only the Buddha but the beautiful setting as well. Nicely done.#10: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Apr 14, 2008 [SPOILER]
What a wonderful idea for a series. This first one is a real winner. High marks from me.
Thank you so much. :D
Very interesting and a pleasure to solve. I'm starting the next one! Thank you.#11: Kristen Coolman (kristen) on Aug 1, 2020 [SPOILER]
"I'll bet Jesus and Buddha are good friends, anyway!"...you betcha, Arduinna lol. They are both outstanding prophets (agreed upon by the most demanding scholars of each religion) no matter what else they might be/are in addition.
This is clearly a thin, Indian Buddha, rather than a fat, Chinese Buddha. :)#12: Kristen Coolman (kristen) on Aug 1, 2020 [SPOILER]
As for the similarities between Jesus and Buddha, that's explored in a 2007 film called The Man From Earth. The titular character is an immortal being, who has to reinvent himself every 30 years or so, before people notice he hasn't aged. Midway through the film, he mentions some of his travels through India and the Middle East, and the philosophies he tried to share with his shorter-lived brethren.#13: Byrdie (byrdie) on Aug 25, 2020
An amazingly well done image and interesting discussion as well.
