Puzzle Description:

This puzzle requires edge logic, using the edge to confine clues. It is definitely the most crude of the 4, but also the hardest. There are lots of accomplshed puzzle solvers here that will discuss this with you.Next lesson would be even more advanced solving techniques. Internal edge logic, two way and smile logic. There is almost always a way to solve a puzzle.

This is the 4th part in my short series on puzzle design, and solution. If you are confused, I or my fellow creators will walk you through the steps of creation and solution. All you need to do is ask.

Nope, still easier than #2, which required more guessing. (See my comment in #3.)

Tom, this puzzle requires no guessing, just a very strait forward edge logic...

Line logic to start. The 3 in row (now known as "R") 1 cannot be placed in Columns (now known as "C") 4,5, 14-16 as it will create a conflict in the next column. This was edge logic, NOT guesing. Dot all those. LL (line logic which requires counting spaces to see what you can fill in). Control L (hold down the control key and hit the "L" key) will tell you which line can sometimes have an additional LL clue (but not always). The 2 in C4 cannot be in R2-3. Dot them. This is edge logic, again. It solves with line logic.

After LL
EL 3 r1 = c4-5, c14-16 white
LL
EL 2 c4 = r2-3 w
LL to finish

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.

Ah, so exactly as Tom did it.
