Re comment #5 -- The old tv show Candid Camera had a segment showing two doors side by side in a hallway. The one on the left was marked "women" with an arrow under it pointing to the other door on the right. The door on the right was marked "men" with an arrow under it pointing to the left. Watching the men and women trying to decide which was the right door to go through was hilarious. (As were most of the Candid Camera segments). That call was not just for a specific dance - it was a standard call in traditional square dances. Lots of dances would have the active couple cross the set, split the opposite couple, and then return separately around the outside of the set. If they return on the same side they started, the call is "ladies go gee and men go haw", but if they are to cross paths and return on the side their partner started it is "ladies go haw and men go gee".
