Puzzle Description:

...o the puddin'-race! Happy Robbie Burns Day - Enjoy your Haggis!

#1: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 25, 2014 [SPOILER]

Guss I'll never get to taste haggis. Some would say that's a blessing, others a curse. lol

Norma - I used to say that haggis was a curse until I finally tried it a few years ago, and discovered it's essentially a liverwurst and oatmeal sausage - not that bad, especially when smothered with "neeps" and "tatties" and served with a "wee dram" (none of which I actually would have said were palatable before my visit to Scotland and Ireland). This from a person who hated liver, kidneys, etc, when I was growing up (despite the Gaelic name)!

I would think the wee dram (or two) would be compulsory. :)

food taste notwithstanding, nice solve

Thanks Tom.

It's actually pretty good. What I didn't care for was the drawn out performance of presenting the haggis and reading the long long ode every time we went to Robbie Burns night. Kind of neat the first time but not so much after that. Just bring on the food :)

Thanks Susan. I agree, it's not too bad. In terms of the presentation - a lot depends on who is doing it. In the past I've gone for lunch at one of the pubs downtown that does a great job of piping in the haggis - the "star" quotes the ode from memory with lots of dramatic flair, which is quite good. This year, we didn't try to get to that celebration - then I was snowed in, so missed our family substitute. I did manage to have a bit of "leftover" haggis this past weekend before we celebrated the lunar new year - a real case of "Gung Haggis Fat Choy"! :)

I've never had haggis, but liverwurst and oatmeal sounds quite palatable. I also admit to not knowing anything about the ceremony, so I'll have to google it, as it's all Greek to me!

Oh, good solve, too, Auntie!

My response is the same of Bill Eisenmann's above.
