thx Susan :)#8: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 9, 2014
I wonder if Kristen will like it.
Super nice Tom.:)#9: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Jan 9, 2014
Not bad. Abe has one of those iconic faces that can be made in a very small grid and still be recognizable.#10: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2014
If you want it to look like an actual portrait (not a charicature), you have to be very careful with proportion. The eyes are in the center of the head, with as much space from eyes to crown as from eyes to chin, and the tops of the ears are level with the eyes.
thx Aldege#11: Jota (jota) on Jan 10, 2014
thx Kristen for your advice. So if I gave him more hair, on top, that would satisfy the look?
Enjoyed the solve!#12: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2014
thx Jota ..it took awhile#13: Wombat (wombatilim) on Jan 10, 2014 [HINT]
Once the initial LL is stuck, work on some 2-way logic focusing in the upper-left corner:#14: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2014
C5: R4-5 are blank to avoid a contradiction in C6
R4: C7-9 are blank to avoid a contradiction in R6
You can get pretty far after this with LL, though there's a tricky dot the Hint doesn't catch in R19.
Finally use some edge logic on the 7 clue in R29 to blank out R29C21.
Line logic to finish.
thanks Wombat#15: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jan 11, 2014
very recognizable! pretty good, T#16: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 11, 2014
naw, I think she's saying that the eyes need to move down more towards center(ie bigger forehead)...
K's the portrait-master, but a helpful hint for making them is to start with the eyes. get those to look how you want, then work the grid outwards from there. (if you're working in proportion to the rest of the face, the eyes will determine grid size needed)
thx Kurt :)#17: besmirched tea (Besmirched Tea) on Aug 20, 2019

Great image. Very tough solve with no guessing.
