Puzzle Description:
This rebus has been done before in different forms. See puzzles #1377 (by Gypso)and #9448 (by Heather). Because of a little wordplay here, this probably won't make much sense except in English - sorry.

Once in a blue moon?#2: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 29, 2013
makes sense to me Norma#3: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Aug 29, 2013
Yours is the best, Dave. :)#4: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 29, 2013
I think I'm in the twilight zone. This morning, I solved Sylvain's #878. Not exactly the same, but close enough to be freaky.#5: Dave Oas (khpdave) on Aug 29, 2013 [SPOILER]
You are incredibly correct Norma! (about comment #1 - Thank you for comment #3) and Tom, you're obviously a sensible guy.#6: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Aug 29, 2013
Kristen - Sorry for the freak out (ok, I'm not sorry. I think we kinda enjoy freaking each other out)
We just had a Blue Moon the night of Aug. 20-21 so I thought I'd honor it a bit. One fairly unheralded benefit of WebPBN is how educational it is. Many puzzles provide links, or at least incentives, to learn more about the subject matter. Here's my contribution for this one:

Are you standing alone?#7: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 29, 2013
Isn't it the Cheese that stands alone? Or was that the joke? :)#8: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Aug 29, 2013
From the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vr0amOKCHo#9: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Aug 29, 2013
Oh yeah. *sheepish grin*#10: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Aug 29, 2013
I thought it was a moon-is-made-of-green-cheese reference. :)
:) Kristen.#11: Deana L (ffswife) on Aug 29, 2013
I hate rebus puzzles. but i liked this one.#12: Jota (jota) on Sep 2, 2013
Nice! Thanks!#13: Susan Nagy (susannagy54) on Feb 26, 2014 [SPOILER]
Nice puzzle. I especially like the curvature of the moon. I think this puzzle would make sense in any language where the numeral one is "1". It is different in Chinese, for example. But, if they know about "blue moons", they might be able to "puzzle" it out!#14: Dave Oas (khpdave) on Mar 10, 2014
Thanks Susan. I imagine you're right - there are a lot of very clever folks all over the globe.#15: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Mar 10, 2014
Welcome back, Dave!#16: Dave Oas (khpdave) on Mar 12, 2014
Hi Norma. I'm kind of in and out for awhile. Thanks!#17: Tom King (sgusa) on Jul 16, 2014 [SPOILER]
Ones in a blue moon. Fun puzzle, Dave!#18: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Jan 7, 2020
A clever pun for a creative rebus.#19: David R. Felton (drfelton) on Jan 18, 2023 [SPOILER]
For those who are now interested in when the next Blue Moon will appear: https://www.almanac.com/what-blue-moon#:~:text=The%20next%20Blue%20Moon%20according,Moon%20in%20a%20calendar%20month).#20: Bruce Yanoshek (yanogator) on Jan 18, 2023
Susan, it only works because "once" sounds very much like ones. In other languages, the plural of "one" won't sound like the word for "one time".#21: Claudia (clau_bolson) on Mar 10, 2023 [SPOILER]
In other languages we don't have that saying...
for instance in Spanish we say "cada muerte de obispo"
