FOR SALE - Rico, a fifteen year old male cat with cataracts, arthritis, epilepsy, gum disease (he does have one tooth left) and a chunk missing from his right ear. Serious inquiries only!

Aw, poor old cat. It's amazing he has survived this long. Very nice puzzle.

Thanks Norma. He's definitely had a rough go but he seems pretty content hanging out with us in the house. We have him on antibiotics (gum disease), a sedative (epilepsy) and soft food (one tooth). He is a very happy and gentle old soul.

We have a new addition to our family: a newly weaned rescue puppy, a chiweenie / terrier mix.

Tammie found Rico at the carwash a couple of weeks ago. The vet says we have to keep him apart from Frank for at least a couple of more weeks to make sure they don't cross-infect each other.

I think we're all just a bunch of saps.

Ahh, how great of you to give him a home! Just think how happy he is to be enjoying your company!

Geez Dave,he has one more tooth than I have,I have arthritis,the start of glaucoma,vericose veins,a variety of lumps and festering sores,but both my ears are intact.One more ailment and I doubt Niki will be as nice to me as you are to Rico. Cool puzzle.:)

good thing cats have 9 lives, maybe rico found tammie and said to himself yep, she looks caring, i think i'll go home with her :)

I would guess he was on life 8 and 15/16ths when he and Tam found each other.

Al, you're hilarious. Grossed me out with the festering sores but made me laugh again with Nikki maybe not being so nice after another ailment. I love your sense of humor.

You are all hilarious today! My heart swelled as I read this...and the happy tears welled. Blessings upon each and every one! I own the fact I'm a sap and I love it that you and Tam have befriended this darlin', Dave... Oh, and lest I forget, I am sending a special blessing for your festering sores, Aldege. Can you also use over the counter mycitracin?...or are you using poetic license about that?

I'm not sure what we'll do if Tammie finds Aldege laying by the dumpster down at the carwash - take him in, I guess.

I'd introduce Rico to my 16 year old cat, Zoe. But I think she's passed all that. She just likes laying in the sun and having her head rubbed. I've had her since she was so tiny, her eyes were still blue. Found in a utility closet at my school.

I don't think Rico's looking for much excitement at this stage of his life either. Maybe he and Zoe could be pen pals.

It's funny how we try to carefully plan out the things in life that will make us happy but it's so often those unplanned events that end up being more rewarding.
