Puzzle Description:

The title is sort of a double meaning. The alternating colors is kinda "mesmerizing" and so is the book that the boy is reading :) I thought I'd try a little different technique with this puzzle as you may have noticed. Let me know what you guys think!

Ok, I was sitting here, knowing what the background was, and looking at the all the white wondering, "what in the world". Even after I knew what it was, I still had to take a second glance to see it. Now that I DO see it, I can't help but see it... Nice job!
#2: Lisa Swomley (twizzler) on Jan 10, 2008
VERY cool! Very unique! Good job. You've got a good imagination.
#3: Eric Francis (airdrik) on Jan 10, 2008 [HINT]
At first it looks like just a rainbow pattern across the board, but then again, you find breaks in the pattern...
#4: Sarah Abbott (sabbott) on Jan 10, 2008
very clever
#5: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Jan 10, 2008
Very unique! Thanks that was quite enjoyable, and the end result was unexpected.
#6: Laurie Sims (laurie) on Jan 11, 2008 [HINT]
To add meaning to the title - it was mesmerizing to solve.
Once I realized the color pattern, it resolved itself in in a spiral closing in on the center of the pattern.
Excellent Job!

#9: Maikki (felia) on Jan 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
Oh this is nice! At first I thought it was just a "regular" maze but I was surprised in the positive way.
#10: tj stein (tjstein) on Jan 22, 2008
One of the most unique and interesting puzzles on the site. Well done!
#11: Adam Nielson (monkey) on Jul 15, 2008 [SPOILER]
Completely agree with #10. Absolutely brilliant. In general, I flat out HATE those symmetrical, rainbows, patterns, designs, etc, and I was afraid this was going to be one of those, based on how the blank puzzle looked, and seeing all those rainbows of 1's. Yet, after completing it, I was blown away. Exceptional.
#12: Jane Doe (telly) on Jul 15, 2008
Very cool idea! Fun to solve. Completely agree with #10 and 11. :D
#13: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jan 13, 2009
Very different.
#14: Jota (jota) on Apr 4, 2009
I totally agree with Telly!
As I was finishing, I thought it was a mother and child, though the child looked weird.
#15: Shallyn (shallyn) on Apr 13, 2009
I hate the rainbow puzzles, but this was fun to solve and the image is cool. Well done!

Awesome!!!
#21: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jun 8, 2019 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Like most others, I was dreading another pattern puzzle. Most interesting take on a silhouette and a nice reward after picking away at the solution.
#22: Lauren B (lblair) on Nov 3, 2019
I like the surprise!!!
#23: Andrew Schulz (LPguy) on Oct 4, 2020 [SPOILER]
It's a shattered stained-glass window, but I kind of like it.

(Reading description, looking up at the image... quickly developing strong awareness of actual image... wow awesome...)

Wow, sweet. It deceived me. Really nice.
