Puzzle Description:
The Kansas Highway Patrol began using the campaign style (Smokey the Bear) hat a little more than 50 years ago. Before that it was the "bus driver" style hat (kind of like the one worn by Ralph Cramden on the Honeymooners).

The patrol is an amazing group of men and women that I've had the pleasure of serving with for over 30 years now. Next fall though, I'm going to be hanging that hat up.
