Puzzle Description:

As all these other Native American mascots get phased out for not being politically correct, I don't know how this one and the Tomahawk Chop survives. Not that I really find any of them offensive, but I am not Native American. They are losing Maryland to the Big10 (er 12, I don't know) so they are poaching other, lesser conferences. FSU gets the Sugar Bowl, I believe...

This appears to be an indian but I don't know what you are talking about in all these puzzles.

College football, BC. The conference championships are this weekend. Some are fans, some aren't. This small series appeals to fans.

A lot of people prefer college football because the teams' rosters are static for a longer period of time and you get to know the players as a team, while the pros do so much trading that what was your "team" last year is practically non existent this year. And the player you most loved to hate last year is now a member of your "team" and you gotta love 'im. :) Oh, really nice puzzle!

I disagree with your premise, Norma. College players have 4 years. Most don't play as Freshman or Sophomores. Effectively giving two years of play to the college. The roster turns over constantly. A good pro (Troy Polomala, Peyton Manning, etc.) will be with their team for 15 years.

It is the love of the school, and the hate for the rivals in college.

You're right Tom. I was just repeating what someone else said and since I don't follow college football I wouldn't know if they were right or wrong. :)

Yeah, sgusa, for example I don't like Florida State because I went to a different FSU not in Florida (and not BCS level) and because I find really annoying the "song" that goes along with the tomahawk chop. And also because I've become a Virginia Tech fan over the past 10 years.

btw, decent rendering of the Seminole, considering the grid size. thanks for another 20x!

Florida State is able to still use the Seminole "nickname" (not "mascot") because of their close ties with, and non-opposition of, Seminole Nation.

Thanks, JL

Do they use the same "song" as the Atlanta Braves?

When I worked at a theatre, the stage manager intern was a huge Seminoles fan (an alumna, I think) who went so far as to have her dogs tattooed with Seminole slogans and images when they were neutered. One dog was named Nole.

Though I don't feel as badly for the dogs as I do for two sisters whose parents were huge Auburn fans. The girl who was my age was Pepper War Eagle W-- (surname removed to preserve *some* anonymity), and her little sister, Tiger W--.

And your guy appears to be screaming because of the panther on his head. I'd be screaming, too.

LOL, Kristen. Hair around the head with my small imaginitative Indian feather...

Not everyone here follows US college sports. So...

ACC = Atalantic Coast Conference?
And this image is for the Florida State Seminoles?

It's nice to read info like this in the description.
An image link helps too. :-)
