Judy -- Actually Jan was our family's sewing person! His mom had made a lot of their family's clothes when he was growing up, and he watched and learned what to do. He used to sew amazing Halloween costumes for our kids. For whatever that's worth. Amazing JudyBee. Learn something new every day. We called everything scissors no matter what. But there seems to be a real difference in that scissors have the same size finger holes and shears are larger with different sized finger holes.
Hmm, I've always called my sewing scissors just that. I've heard the term "sewing shears," but to my mind, shears are slightly different. Looks like either term is technically correct. ^_^#16: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Sep 16, 2022 [SPOILER]

Just out of curiosity I searched Amazon for scissore then for shears. Apparently time has blurred the difference. Scissors brings up various cutting tools with even the manufacturers calling shears scissors on the packages. Thanks! Arlo is 23 now, James is 20, and the school they were at has shut down. They both look so impossibly young there!
