Actually, Flagstaff is the closest I got to Sedona. I soooo wanted to stop there! I was lazy the one day and didn't have time to stop on the way out to Vegas because of it....I had a couple days free after, but I was dreading the long drive and kinda wanted to just get back home. I mean REALLY dreaded the drive. I've had 2 back surgeries in the past and can't take the car for so long at once. And the twists and turns of the mountainy roads had me freaked out. Heights screw with me. I about had a panic attack driving through Kingman. You'd have laughed to see me at 10 and 2, all white-knuckled and sweaty as big trucks are zipping by while I'm cruising at a modest 55 mph. hahaha Absolutely gorgeous country though! As much as I hated the long drive, I'm glad I did it. I'm gonna regret not stopping when I was so close though....

Sorry you missed Sedona, but the Flagstaff area is also very nice.
