Nice to have places like that to remember. All of downtown Phoenix has been torn down and rebuilt. Maybe 100 years from now some places will become nostalgic.

They got 'em both, Brian. My preference was always the counter, though.

Come for the root beer, stay for the world's tallest capitol building, complete with bullet holes from Huey Long's assassination!

Even Scottsdale looks totally different. The only city around Phoenix that looks anywhere near the same is Glendale and they seem to be working hard to keep it that way.

Wow, I do *not* associate Baton Rouge with Lebanese food!

Actually, come to think of it, I associate it with the episode of the Brady Bunch where one of the kids (maybe Cindy?) was on a TV game show and froze when she was asked to name the capitol of Louisiana, while at home her whole family was yelling "Baton Rouge" and "she knows that!" at their TV.

That's so funny :) ...and absolutely Lebanese food! In Baton Rouge at least, if the restaurant says Greek, it's Greek probably with some Lebanese and if it says Greek & Lebanese, it's mostly (or all) Lebanese. My first assigned roommate was 2nd generation Lebanese from far South Louisiana. Not sure how many of the restaurants are still there but Arzi's, Serop's, Roman, Albasha...I'm forgetting a big one. Anyway, miss it a LOT!
