Thanks, Jennifer. I think English being a second language for him helped him to see how quirky the English language can be.

I saw Victor live in concert once,he was fabulously funny and yes a tremendously talented pianist, and most of all a great entertainer.:)

I never grow tired of him and watch him whenever they show him on the PBS membership drives.
#7: Lollipop (lollipop) on Sep 4, 2012
I *loved* Victor Borge and was lucky enough to see his concerts live every time he came to town. His well-known routines never grew old, and each time the comedy seemed as fresh as ever. Thanks, Norma.

Thanks Lollipop.

My favorites are Phonetic Punctuation and Inflationary Language. :)

I tried to imitate the sounds, which are phenomenal, but just spit a lot.

I, too, love the phonetic punctuation, some of those got messy, like when the passage had an ellipsis, and he wound up doing a raspberry.

He is missed.
#16: Gary Webster (glwebste) on Sep 21, 2023
You all were very lucky. I never was in a situation to see him live, but I absolutely loved his bits on television, including the Ed Sullivan show way, way back in the day. Such well-thought-out comedy.

He had some very talented musicians as guests. It will always be a mystery to me as to how they kept a straight face when they appeared with him.
