I've had some health issues that didn't need to be compounded by caffeine. It wasn't hard to quit and I still have a decaf latte every once in a while. Sometimes I miss not having a cup in the AM. It was such a ritual for the past 41 years. It all started when I would get a cup at Dunkin Doughnuts when Dad and I would go to work together. Back then, it wasn't sweet enough until you could see the volcano of sugar mounding up through the surface.

Super good image, Kurt.

I'm a coffee lover. I'm sipping a cup now.

The latest research shows that the health benefits of coffee (in moderation) outweigh the risks. There are only a few indications where a doctor would wisely advise to limit caffeine intake (hypertension, anxiety). Coffee drinkers get lots of antioxidants, and have lower risk of diabetes, migraine, cancer, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's.

Just pick a food you like and stick with it. Science will eventually tell you it's good for you. (Of course, shortly thereafter it'll reverse its decision -- but just wait, it'll be good for you again soon.)

Actually, most of these studies don't make proclamations about good or bad. They usually just say that such-and-such tiny part of what-cha-doody is good for you in this quantity (or bad in that). Suddenly reporters show up and all grey areas become posterized to black and white - Coffee will keep you alive! Coffee will give you cancer!

This is not to totally blame them as they generally have no scientific training and even professions associated with science - like doctors - often do not understand the concept that "correlation does NOT imply causation".
