Ok...we just got a call from the doctor's office, results on her labwork. There's a certain level, that if a woman is miscarrying, it would be around 25. My mom's level is 3,000...which could mean the doctors were mistaken. She is going to the doctor's office again tomorrow for more checking. I may still get my brother/sister! And there's a chance she may be having two! I hope we aren't getting our hopes up for nothing...I wish tomorrow would get here and answer all our questions! I just keep praying.

Sorry for this difficult day--even if tomorrow brings better news than today, THIS is a hard day! Thanks for sharing with us, and sharing your faith--and after a very long day of my own it is nice to have a nice, solvable puzzle that doesn't strain my tired brain too much!

The "level" you are probably referring to is probably the pregnancy hormone called beta hCG. The number itself doesn't matter so much at any given time (as many women have lower or higher levels than normal for any particular stage of pregnancy), but what actually matters the most is the trend over time of that value. That is why separate readings, usually 2-3 days apart, give the best idea of a pregnancy's progression (or unfortunate lack thereof).

I hope it's good news, Skippy. I know I had a lot of bleeding with one of my pregnancies, and we thought at first I was miscarrying, but fortunately it turned out to be nothing serious. My sympathies to you, your family, and your mom!

Mom got the results this morning from the bloodwork drawn Friday, and the numbers are going down, so she definately is losing the baby. Thank you all for your prayers for her.

Thanks, Travis, we all were. But God knows what was best for the baby. Could be it was going to have severe health problems so the Lord took him/her on home.
