would be a Bulls-eye! I play in dart leagues/tournaments from time to time...

Excellent! I can't believe I didn't think of it until I was nearly finished. I worked it from the outside in, wondering what a "cow's eye" could refer to. I thought maybe it was some device for looking at the sun during tomorrow's eclipse. :)

Now I feel very dense. *smacks forehead*

worked it from the top down, as soon as i saw the numbers i knew what it was..great job

It's interesting...wonder when people decided throwing/shooting projectiles at a bull's eye would be a good idea....wonder where the label of "bullseye" came from...? While working the puzzle, I completed the numbers first and thought it was a brand over the cow's eye. Was happy when it wasn't!! Nice puzzle :)

According to the interwebs, longbow archers used a cow skull for target practice, and tried to get the arrow through the eye socket. That's a much better explanation than the alternative!

Excellent puzzle. Back in my pub-crawling days, I played a lot of darts myself. It is actually very fun, but it's disappearing in these days of video everything.... My best throw was five bulls to close out a game of Cricket! I'm really not that good, but if you throw enough, once in a while they all hit!
