Puzzle Description:

The Mona Lisa-- can an enigmatic smile be captured in 5 squares? Apparently not!

The blobby stuff on the side is the river and trees in the background.

Another wonderful interpretation Arduinna. I think I might prefer your smile to the original. The only part I had to guess was the right eye. Once it was placed the nose mouth and cleavage square fell right in. The placement of the right eye was pretty easy to guess by backing up and looking at the facial structure.
Thanks for a fun puzzle BG! ^v^

Hello out there Jan! I remember reading that you read the comments even if you can't get to all the puzzles. (I feel like I'm talking to God-- Hello, Jan? It's me, Margaret.)

I was wondering if you could pass some judgement on this puzzle. If the final verdict is that it requires guessing then I'm going to edit it. But, I'd rather not because a lot of people have solved it already, and the facial features were hard enough to create the first time.

Anyway, if you can get around to it... thanks!

I don't think it requires guessing. I used the same logic that you described in comment #3. Was even a little surprised after reading the comments that others used guessing.

I don't read comments to puzzles I haven't solved. Maybe I should. There's getting to be an awful lot of puzzles I haven't solved.

I solved this puzzle exactly the same way you described in response 3. Seemed totally logically solvable to me, and a really beautiful puzzle.

I'm glad you didn't change it.

I'm glad I forgot I was going to. Thanks, Jan!

Fun solve. The image probably needs to be bigger to get the detail needed. I enjoyed it very much at this size.

This art medium - and really anything else too - is just not capable of portraying the complexities of the Mona Lisa's mouth. I hear it took Da Vinci 10 years just to get it right. 10. years. It was worth the effort, I think, because now it is the most famous painting in the world.
